Recap: Mariner Tritons vs. Discovery Spartans
The Mariner Tritons entered their tilt with the Discovery Spartans with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Mariner managed a 74-70 victory over Discovery on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Mariner's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marcus Kelley Jr, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Kelley Jr is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Corey Hunter, who scored 20 points along with five assists.
Mariner has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Discovery, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mariner on the road again on Friday and play against Gateway at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. As for Discovery, they will challenge George Jenkins at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. George Jenkins is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
