Softball Recap: Mater Academy East Las Vegas Takes a Loss

If Mater Academy East Las Vegas was riding high fresh off their 18-2 takedown of Western on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights fell 19-14 to the Virgin Valley Bulldogs on Friday. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 9-8.

Telisha Sayles made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, five stolen bases, and four runs while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last 13 games she's played. Yanely Payan was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI.

Mater Academy East Las Vegas' defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Virgin Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season.

Mater Academy East Las Vegas wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 12-2 victory against Cheyenne on the 28th. As for Virgin Valley, they have also already played their next game, a 14-1 win against Del Sol on the 26th.
