Volleyball Recap: Speedway Takes a Loss

Speedway lost against Southport back in October of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Sparkplugs came up short against the Cardinals, falling 3-0. The Sparkplugs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-10, 25-14.

Southport found their leader in sophomore Lily Boone, who had 18 digs. Boone is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last 12 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddie Pfeiffer, who had five digs and three aces.

Speedway's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Southport, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Speedway will face off against Monrovia at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Southport, they will challenge Franklin Central at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
