Football Recap: Belleview Takes a Loss

Belleview extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 1-8. They were dealt a 50-6 defeat at the hands of the Mainland Buccaneers. The Rattlers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-6.

Gabe Caro threw for 61 yards on five of 13 attempts. Noah Daye was his top target, picking up 33 receiving yards. On the ground, Nicholas Mills rushed for 64 yards and one touchdown.

As for Mainland, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 21 points or more this season.

Mainland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sebastian Johnson out in front who threw for 243 yards and three TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Johnson a new career-high in passer rating (154.4). Kadin Flores was in the mix as well, providing Mainland with two scores.

Coming up, Belleview will look to defend their home field on Thursday against West Port at 7:00 p.m. The Rattlers will be up against the Wolf Pack's rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.22 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Mainland, they will head out to square off against Seabreeze at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
