Softball Recap: Paramount Gets the Win

Paramount hadn't done well against Whittier recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Pirates never let the Cardinals get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Pirates considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Francheska Torres and Evengelina Asoau did most of the damage at the plate: Torres got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Asoau went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Torres a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mia Flores, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Paramount always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whittier only posted an OBP of .267.

Paramount now has a winning record of 1-0-1. As for Whittier, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Paramount will be playing at home against Santiago at 3:15 p.m. on March 5. As for Whittier, they will square off against Kaiser at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
