Basketball Recap: Melbourne Comes Up Short

The Melbourne Bulldogs came up short against the Atlantic Sharks on Friday and fell 69-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (55), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

Melbourne's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Atlantic, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2.

Melbourne and Atlantic could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Bulldogs (ranked 220th) will meet Mainland (ranked 30th) at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2026. Meanwhile, Atlantic will challenge Newberry on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (96 vs. 8).
