Baseball Recap: Portage Comes Up Short

Portage made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Valparaiso, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Indians fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost six in a row.

Kodie Young was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Portage's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2-1. As for Valparaiso, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Portage will head out to face off against Hammond Bishop Noll at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Valparaiso, they will venture away from home to take on Hobart at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings are facing the Brickies at the right time seeing as the Brickies are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
