Basketball Recap: Oliver Mutrux's Big Game Can't Quite Lead School of the Ozarks over Billings

After flying high against Niangua last Thursday, School of the Ozarks came back down to earth. The School of the Ozarks Patriots took a hard 63-44 fall against the Billings Wildcats on Saturday. The Patriots were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

School of the Ozarks lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Oliver Mutrux, who posted nine points in addition to six boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Canaan Thomas, who had nine points and five rebounds.

School of the Ozarks dropped their record down to 5-17 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Billings, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. School of the Ozarks will head out to challenge Everton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Billings, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
