Baseball Recap: Covington Catholic Comes Up Short

Covington Catholic made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Beechwood, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Colonels fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Colonels have suffered since April 21st.

Covington Catholic's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 17-11. As for Beechwood, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 18-8.

Looking ahead, Covington Catholic will host Conner at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Beechwood, they will head out on the road to take on Walton-Verona at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bearcats' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
