JD Dill was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 24 points and 18 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Stein, who posted 20 points.
Meanwhile, Gramercy Christian played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Community Christian, falling 85-42. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-24.
Christ Covenant will need to focus on slowing down Riley Kincer, one of several Gramercy Christian players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Kincer continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Malachi Tribble was another key player, putting up seven points.
Even though they lost, Gramercy Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive contests.
Christ Covenant's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-12. As for Gramercy Christian, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-14.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Christ Covenant has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Gramercy Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Christ Covenant didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Gramercy Christian in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 40-35 win. Does Christ Covenant have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gramercy Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
