Baseball Recap: Manchester Takes a Loss

Manchester had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 9-10 to make it five. They lost 10-0 to the DeKalb Barons. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Manchester saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harper Sturtsman, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for DeKalb, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 15-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games.

On DeKalb's side, the result came thanks to Bryson Gadson's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, DeKalb let Drake Hall and Brady Vince run wild. Hall went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Vince went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Graden Pepple, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: DeKalb beat Manchester by a score of 8-3 later that day.
