Softball Game Preview: Hicks Pirates vs. Glenbrook Apaches

The Hicks Pirates will face off against the Glenbrook Apaches at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hicks is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

Hicks made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Plainview, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Pirates blew past the Hornets 17-2 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Courtlyn Dousay made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Hicks let Abby Addison and Jayde Wilbanks run wild. Addison went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Wilbanks went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Destiny Hickman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Hicks lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Glenbrook unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Parkway by a score of 7-6.

Glenbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 21-7. As for Hicks, their victory bumped their record up to 17-5.
