Volleyball Recap: Grant Community Comes Up Short on the Road Against Lake Zurich + How To Watch

Grant Community had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Lake Zurich Bears by a score of 2-1 on Monday. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Bears when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Grant Community sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-22, 24-26, 25-19.

Their offense was headlined by Kara Schubert and Sienna Enters, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Jill Hobson and her 13 assists. Kaelee Feliciano controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Leading Lake Zurich to victory were Ella Elsen and Emme Lawrence. Elsen had six digs and three aces, while Lawrence had 12 digs. Those 12 digs gave Lawrence a new career-high.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grant Community will head out to challenge Waukegan at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lake Zurich, they will venture away from home to take on Grayslake North at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
