Basketball Recap: Amandla Academy Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Amandla Academy Disciples were beaten by the Freedom Christian Academy Patriots 113-61.

Leading Freedom Christian Academy to victory were Karsten Swinney and Bryce West. Swinney dropped a double-double on 41 points and 11 assists, while West posted 29 points in addition to seven assists and seven steals. The contest was Swinney's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cristian Sias, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 boards.

Amandla Academy now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Freedom Christian Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-7.

Amandla Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lab University Prep National at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Freedom Christian Academy, they will take on Harrells Christian Academy in a tournament on Friday. Freedom Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 games -- so hopefully Harrells Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
