Baseball Recap: Mattituck Takes a Loss

Mattituck was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Port Jefferson Royals. The Tuckers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Royals earlier this season, when they won 4-2.

Ben Voegel was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Mattituck's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Port Jefferson, they moved to 5-13 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

While Mattituck had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
