Basketball Game Preview: Lumberton Pirates vs. Gray's Creek Bears

Lumberton has gone 7-1 against Gray's Creek recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Lumberton Pirates will venture away from home to square off against the Gray's Creek Bears at 7:30 p.m. Lumberton will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Lumberton beat South View 63-50.

Jaiden Shephard was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 17 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 41 games he's played dating back to last season. Christopher Hammonds was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards.

Lumberton was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South View only racked up 11 assists.

Meanwhile, Gray's Creek didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Purnell Swett on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 63-59 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Lumberton's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.9 points. As for Gray's Creek, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.

Everything came up roses for Lumberton against Gray's Creek in their previous meeting back in January, as the squad secured a 76-43 victory. In that match, Lumberton amassed a halftime lead of 39-17, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
