On Thursday, Scotts Valley beat Independence 53-44.
When it comes to explaining why Independence lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joshua Villanueva. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with eight steals and five assists. The matchup was Villanueva's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Elijah Thorn, who scored ten points.
Scotts Valley's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Independence, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Scotts Valley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against St. Francis at 7:00 p.m. on December 29th. St. Francis is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
