Basketball Recap: Springfield's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

After losing to Salem the last time they met, Springfield decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Springfield Tigers came out on top against the Salem Quakers by a score of 41-32 on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Springfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jameka Brungard, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Brungard's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Kendall Maughan was another key player, going 5 for 10 on her way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Springfield's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Salem, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-7.

Springfield will look to defend their home court on Saturday against South Range at 11:45 a.m. As for Salem, they will head out to take on Poland Seminary at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
