Baseball Recap: O'Bannon Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact O'Bannon can now relate to. They fell just short of the Calhoun City Wildcats by a score of 7-6 on Friday. The Greenwaves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chandler Wade was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Wade was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Wade is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Denzel Clark and Decorion Poindexter did some serious damage despite the final result: Clark got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Poindexter went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Clark is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jermiah Macon, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

O'Bannon's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Calhoun City, the win snapped their losing streak at nine games and leaves them with a 10-18 record.

As of now, neither O'Bannon nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
