Basketball Recap: Conway Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Rebecca Hemingway and Ahchiya Hill

Conway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 37-28 to the St. James Sharks. The Tigers were probably out for revenge after losing 29-23 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Conway's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ahchiya Hill, who posted 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals, and Rebecca Hemingway, who scored 13 points and three steals. Hill is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Even though they lost, Conway smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Conway's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for St. James, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Conway and St. James could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings. Conway (ranked 200th) will meet Socastee (ranked 77th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, St. James will challenge North Myrtle Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Friday down 83 places (104 vs. 21).
