Baptist Prep and Atkins are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Eagles will head out to take on the Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Baptist Prep is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.
Baptist Prep barely beat Dover the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Pirates on Tuesday. Considering the Eagles have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Macy Childers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Addison Highfill was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kayla Midkiff, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Baptist Prep hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Atkins' offense. They lost 8-0 to Harmony Grove on Thursday. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Atkins' loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Baptist Prep, their record now sits at 11-3.
Atkins' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Baptist Prep has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Atkins, though, as they've been averaging 9.4 hits. Given Baptist Prep's sizable advantage in that area, the Red Devils will need to find a way to close that gap.
Baptist Prep couldn't quite get it done against Atkins when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 6-1. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
