Baseball Recap: Grant Park Has No Trouble Against Illinois Lutheran

Grant Park never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on the Illinois Lutheran Chargers with a sharp 17-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won three in a row.

Nolan Olthoff was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Olthoff was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Brayden Heldt and Ian Hamann did most of the damage at the plate: Heldt scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Hamann scored two runs while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave Hamann a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Joey McGinley, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Grant Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Illinois Lutheran only posted an OBP of .143.

The win got Grant Park back to even at 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grant Park will square off against Milford at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Illinois Lutheran, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Grant Park at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
