Softball Recap: Tug Valley Starts Season with Win Against Van

Tug Valley took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 14-6 margin over the Van Bulldogs. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Emma Lackey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Lackey was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katie Hall, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Makenna Osborne, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Tug Valley Panthers face off against Shelby Valley Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Van, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against PikeView at 6:00 p.m. Van is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak dating back to last season.
