Softball Game Preview: Arizona College Prep Knights vs. Chaparral Firebirds

For the second straight game, Arizona College Prep will face off against Chaparral. The Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Firebirds at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Arizona College Prep is coming into the game hot, having won their last 13 games.

Arizona College Prep proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 11) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Chaparral 6-5.

Liliana Gagnon looked comfortable as she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Arizona College Prep got a big performance out of Shelby O'Donnal, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Taylor Estrella, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Arizona College Prep's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Chaparral, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Arizona College Prep hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.2 home runs per game. However, it's not like Chaparral struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
