Softball Game Preview: Davis Sr. Blue Devils vs. Whitney Wildcats

The Davis Sr. Blue Devils will take on the Whitney Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Davis Sr. 3.1, Whitney 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Davis Sr. is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Granite Bay just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Blue Devils couldn't push the score so high this time.

Kaytlin LeBar-Triepke was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last four times she's played.

Meanwhile, Whitney lost 8-2 to Oak Ridge on Wednesday. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Whitney saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Flindt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base was Flindt's first of the season.

Whitney's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Davis Sr., their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.
