Basketball Game Preview: Central Eagles vs. Cheraw Braves

Central hasn't had much luck against Cheraw recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Central Eagles will be playing at home against the Cheraw Braves at 6:15 p.m.

Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They lost 66-46 to Chesterfield on Tuesday. The Eagles' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Despite the loss, Central got top-tier performance from Jordyn Griffin, who posted 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Rielyn Chambers, who had 12 points.

Even though they lost, Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Cheraw on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew North Central out of the water with a 59-21 final score. The Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Cheraw's win came from a few key players Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaleah Faulkner, who put up 22 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Anyah Banks, who posted 15 points in addition to eight boards and four blocks.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Cheraw, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.

Central was taken down by Cheraw 67-27 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Central, My'Shauna Worrell (who almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, nine rebounds, and 12 steals) won't be suiting up this time.
