Basketball Recap: East Laurens Takes a Loss

East Laurens has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 70-64 heartbreaker at the hands of the Dodge County Indians. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (59), the Falcons still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why East Laurens lost on Tuesday, don't look at Tylan Snead. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds. Snead's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kelvion King, who went 6 of 11 en route to 17 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, East Laurens smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matchups.

East Laurens' defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Dodge County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.

East Laurens will head out to take on Washington County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. East Laurens is facing Washington County at the right time seeing as Washington County is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Dodge County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-49 win against Jefferson County on the 5th.
