Football Recap: New Caney Takes a Loss + How To Watch

New Caney extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They had to suffer through a 49-7 loss at the hands of the Grand Oaks Grizzlies. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 468th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 200th).

PAYTON LOPEZ threw for 95 yards on 11 of 16 attempts. BRAYDEN LOGAN was his top target, picking up 70 receiving yards and one touchdown.

As for Grand Oaks, their record now sits at 4-2. They haven't had any issues with New Caney recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Grand Oaks had a senior duo take command as Keilan Gause rushed for 129 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 carries and Grant Smith threw for 90 yards and three touchdowns. Gause also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Grizzlies are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.

New Caney wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 49-14 victory against Willis on the 10th. As for Grand Oaks, they have also already played their next contest, a 28-14 win against Conroe on the 9th.
