Softball Preview: Pike Red Devils vs. Covenant Christian Warriors

The Pike Red Devils will head out on the road to take on the Covenant Christian Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pike has now lost 12 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 16.

Pike fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Southport on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, Covenant Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory on Tuesday, taking the game 4-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for Covenant Christian.

Alivia Tucker was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and a triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Moriah Armstrong, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Pike's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Covenant Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pike has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game.
