Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Central Beats Dawson-Bryant for Their Fifth Straight Win

St. Joseph Central had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Dawson-Bryant Hornets with a sharp 12-1 win. This was a revenge game for the Flyers: when they faced off against the Hornets back in March, they had to take a 12-9 defeat.

Evan Aldridge was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because St. Joseph Central is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise. Aldridge was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Mason Weber was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Landon Rowe also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

St. Joseph Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matchups.

St. Joseph Central's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Dawson-Bryant, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

St. Joseph Central is taking a road trip to take on Symmes Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Dawson-Bryant, they will welcome Minford at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
