Basketball Recap: Southeast Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Teagan Warner and Braelyn Sutton

If Southeast was riding high fresh off their 44-15 takedown of Pleasanton last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Southeast Lancers took a 26-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jayhawk Linn Jayhawks. The game marked the Lancers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Southeast's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Braelyn Sutton and Teagan Warner. Sutton posted five points and eight rebounds, while Warner almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 boards.

Even though they lost, Southeast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Southeast's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 13-5. As for Jayhawk Linn, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.

Looking ahead, Southeast will challenge Commerce at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Jayhawk Linn, they will take on Crest on Monday. Jayhawk Linn's defense has only allowed 29.5 points per game this season, so Crest's offense will have their work cut out for them.
