Baseball Recap: Buckhorn Takes a Loss

Buckhorn lost against Leslie County back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Buckhorn lost 16-4 to Leslie County. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brayden Campbell was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Buckhorn's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 0-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Mayhew, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Even though they lost, Buckhorn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .433 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Buckhorn now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Leslie County, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Buckhorn Wildcats face off against Lee County Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Leslie County, they will take on Jackson County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
