Softball Recap: Gladstone Gladiators vs. Madras White Buffaloes

Gladstone won against Molalla last Wednesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Gladstone Gladiators were the clear victor by a 9-2 margin over the Madras White Buffaloes. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Gladstone.

Ashlynne Franssen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Franssen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts every time she's pitched this season. Franssen was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Madyson Andrada was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Payton Locke, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Gladstone's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-12. As for Madras, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-15.

Gladstone will have a chance to go back-to-back against Madras: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
