South Bend Saint Joseph came out on top against Elkhart on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Huskies skirted past the Lions 8-7. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Huskies as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Myla Blazejewski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Camille Potter, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Mary Stack also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South Bend Saint Joseph kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Mishawaka Marian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They fell 7-4 to Hammond Morton.
Chloe Weber put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
In other batting news, Annie Verslype made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Halle Pedraza, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Mishawaka Marian's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for South Bend Saint Joseph, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-6.
