Baseball Recap: Marathon Victorious

Marathon won the last time they faced Berean Christian and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Dolphins came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 8-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dolphins.

Shane Dieguez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Marathon is 6-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jason Stubblefield Jr., who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-1. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leo Mendez, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Marathon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .522. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Marathon's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Berean Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Marathon will have a chance to go back-to-back against Berean Christian: the pair will be back at it again later today.
