Basketball Recap: Summers County Comes Up Short

Summers County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 48-37 to the Midland Trail Patriots. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-50 back in December of 2024.

Midland Trail's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Levi Skaggs led the charge by putting up 11 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Thad Brown, who posted 11 points and six boards.

Summers County's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Midland Trail, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Summers County has already played their next contest (against Nicholas County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Midland Trail will square off against Greater Beckley Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Greater Beckley Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66 points per game this season.
