Softball Recap: Hubbard Eagles vs. Marlington Dukes
Hubbard dropped their record down to 15-10 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marlington Dukes. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 12-11 to the Dukes when the teams met back in May of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Lauren Komorek was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Emalee Warren was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
As for Marlington, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Ten seems to be a good number for they as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
On Marlington's side, Justine Doringo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off nine hits. Doringo has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Faith Savage, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and one RBI. That's the most triples she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Chelsea Miller, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
