Football Recap: North Shore Falls to South Oak Cliff in First Game of Season + How To Watch

North Shore had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 41-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Oak Cliff Bears. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why North Shore lost, don't look at Kaleb Maryland. Despite the final result, he threw for 286 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 135 yards on only 11 carries. A healthy portion of Maryland's aerial production (89 yards to be exact) went to Jaylen Bocard.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Oak Cliff to victory, but perhaps none more so than Levon Morton, who rushed for 153 yards on only 12 carries. Those 153 rushing yards gave Morton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Moore, who picked up 48 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Looking ahead, North Shore will face off against Crowley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Oak Cliff, they will square off against Duncanville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
