Preview: Kamiakin Braves vs. Chiawana Riverhawks
Kamiakin is on a eight-game streak of home wins, while Chiawana is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Kamiakin Braves will take on the Chiawana Riverhawks at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Kamiakin has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 622 points over their last nine matches.
Kamiakin scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They walked away with an 80-69 victory over Hermiston. Given Kamiakin's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Hermiston is ranked 114th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kamiakin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emaunii Smith, who almost dropped a triple-double on 18 points, 12 rebounds, and nine blocks. Smith has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. Aubrie Herrin was another key contributor, almost dropping a triple-double on 12 points, 15 rebounds, and nine assists.
In what's become a running theme this season, Chiawana gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Southridge 72-45 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Chiawana has posted yet this season.
Kamiakin's victory bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Chiawana, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
