Senior forward led Wayzata to Class AAAA state title game.

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.

Jackson McAndrew of Wayzata (Plymouth) is the 2023-24 Minnesota MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot-9 senior forward led the Trojans to a 29-2 record and appearance in the Class AAAA state championship game.

On the year, McAndrew averaged 23.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 52 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free throw line.

In a 105-76 victory over Hopkins (Minnetonka) in the Section 6 title game, McAndrew scored a career-high 40 points to send the Trojans to the state tournament and avenge a loss from earlier in the season.

In three seasons of varsity basketball at Wayzata, McAndrew led the team to a record of 83-11 and tallied 1,405 career points.

Regarded as the No. 37 prospect in the Class of 2024 according to 247Sports, McAndrew signed with Creighton in November over offers from Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and Xavier among others.

Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released April 10.
