Football Recap: Dawson County Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Dawson County and East Helena squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Dawson County had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Vigilantes and fell 54-22. The Red Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-7.

Despite the loss, Dawson County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Adino Gonzales picked up 78 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 37 yards. Ethan Rivas was another key player, having thrown for 264 yards and two touchdowns.

A big part of East Helena's win came down to the chemistry between Bearek Shuman and his top target Deondray Ellis. Shuman threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns while completing 93.3% of his passes while Ellis picked up 112 receiving yards and one score. That's the most receiving yards Ellis has posted since back in August of 2024.

Dawson County now has a losing record of 4-5. As for East Helena, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Dawson County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Helena, they have already played their next matchup, a 27-20 win against Columbia Falls on the 7th.
