Soccer Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for Riverdale

With a playoff win on the line, Riverdale rose to the challenge on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Justin Garza Guardians 2-1. Xaidyn Camacho had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Cowboys.

Riverdale's lineup was just a bit different on Thursday as Camacho got a bit more time on the pitch (85 vs. his season average of 58.4). Camacho made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal and one steal A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Riverdale pushed their record up to 20-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 30 goals over those five matches. As for Justin Garza, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.

Coming up, Riverdale will take on Selma at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Selma will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Riverdale surely won't give up without a fight. Justin Garza does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
