Basketball Recap: Alonah Manning Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Surrattsville

Friendly hadn't done well against Surrattsville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Friendly Patriots narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Surrattsville Hornets 48-46. While the Patriots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Friendly got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alonah Manning out in front who went 7 for 12 on her way to 18 points. Jasmine Germany was another key player, putting up 20 points.

Friendly's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Surrattsville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Friendly will square off against Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Friendly is facing Central at the right time seeing as Central is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Surrattsville, it'll be a Battle of the Bugs the Surrattsville Hornets face off against the Gwynn Park Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
