Volleyball Recap: Cardinal Newman Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Cardinal Newman, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. Everything went their way against the Ukiah Wildcats on Tuesday as they made off with a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

One reason for the win was Cardinal Newman's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-22, 25-19.

Kahlio Vaetoe paced Cardinal Newman's offense, picking up 20 kills. Vaetoe got some help from Carter Logan and his 29 assists. Finally, Vaetoe was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.

Cardinal Newman's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Ukiah, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-14.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Cardinal Newman will challenge rival Analy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Ukiah is set to square off against their familiar foe Windsor at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
