League recap: Gainesville extends winning streak with victory over Citrus

Adding to the longest winning streak in 6A District 5 this week, Gainesville beat Citrus 38-16. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Hurricanes.

Forest and Nature Coast Tech played the closest game in the league this week, with Forest eventually emerging with a 21-20 victory. Connor Feagle threw for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 11 yards in the win.

Vanguard's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Adam Robles threw for 252 and 1 touchdown and Elkanah Dillon had 145 yards receiving. On the ground Wesley Pringle chipped in 109 yards. Michael Mitchell helped Vanguard's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 51 yards.

Robles put up the best numbers in passing as the Knights bested Lake Weir. Robles' favorite target this week was Dillon, who caught 10 passes for 145 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Vanguard's Robles and Natrelle Jamerson have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Robles has thrown for 2,043 yards this season, while Jamerson has 41 catches for 813 yards. Tony James from Gainesville leads the league in rushing with 693 yards.

As it stands, the Hurricanes are in second, while the Hurricanes are in fifth.

Mark Latsko's team took down Citrus 38-16 last week, the largest margin of any game.
