Softball Recap: Baraboo Triumphs

The Baraboo Thunderbirds beat the Wausau East Lumberjacks 12-7 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thunderbirds.

Taytum Poker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Liana Klemm was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Zeva Valley, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Baraboo's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Wausau East, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Baraboo will square off against Pulaski at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Wausau East, they will venture away from home to take on Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
