Preview: Edwards-Knox Cougars vs. St. Lawrence Central Larries
The Edwards-Knox Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the St. Lawrence Central Larries at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Edwards-Knox is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
Last Thursday, Edwards-Knox had to suffer through a rough 71-27 loss at the hands of Lisbon Central. Edwards-Knox was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-16.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kale Geer, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Allen, who scored 14 points.
Edwards-Knox struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, St. Lawrence Central beat Colton-Pierrepont 33-26 on Monday. The win was just what St. Lawrence Central needed coming off of a 72-44 loss in their prior contest.
St. Lawrence Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Logan Lemay led the charge by scoring seven points along with six steals. Damien Ashley was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven steals.
Edwards-Knox's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-6. As for St. Lawrence Central, they pushed their record up to 3-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Thursday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Edwards-Knox have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 38.7% of their threes per game. It's a different story for St. Lawrence Central, though, as they've only made 30.7% of their threes per game this season.
