Football Recap: United Longhorns vs. United South Panthers
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask United). They put the hurt on the United South Panthers with a sharp 44-21 victory on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Longhorns, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Jorge Luna went supernova for United, throwing for 354 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75.7% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. United South's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonathan Tello, who picked up 90 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 32 yards. Tello got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 68 yards. David Gonzalez handled things on the ground, rushing for 83 yards and a rushing touchdown.
United now has a winning record of 3-2. As for United South, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
