Softball Game Preview: Barren County Trojans vs. Green County Dragons

The Barren County Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Green County Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Barren County came out on top against Glasgow on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run sixth inning. The Trojans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Scotties a 15-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Not much got past Shea Bogue, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep Glasgow off the board. Bogue has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Barren County got a massive performance out of Kaitie Elmore, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Myatt, who went 1-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Barren County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Green County waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Trojans.

Barren County pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Green County, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.
