Volleyball Recap: Key West Wins Going Away Against Basilica

Key West had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Basilica on Wednesday. The Conchs blew past the Mariners 3-0. The Conchs haven't had any issues with the Mariners recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Key West was: they took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-12, 25-13.

Gabrielle Garcia paced Key West's offense, picking up 11 kills. Garcia got some help from Molly McKnight and her 27 assists. Adriana Heinrichs controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Key West's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Basilica, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Key West will venture away from home to take on Marathon at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Basilica, they will head out to face off against Coral Shores at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
